"The Garden Hale" 16"x20" Watercolor Original Painting

The "Garden Hale" is an imagined scene of a classic Hawaiian Plantation style home. Surrounded by tropical Ginger, Hibiscus, Kalo, Ti, Banana and Jacaranda trees, this fern-laden Hale invites you to walk up its little wooden porch, grab a hot cup of tea and peer out over at the distant ocean through the abundant foliage. The Garden Hale goes out in appreciation to all of the little old cane houses that dot the Hawaiian landscape with their beautiful character and peaceful charms.

This original watercolor painting is 16 by 20 inches, painted on 300lb Arches watercolor paper using Winson & Newton watercolor paints and is currently matted in a 20" by 24" simple exhibition frame. The initial drawing part of the painting was started in October 2024 and was completed in July 2025. Much of this time was spent carefully painting in all of the little details, from the gecko that climbs the porch banister to the individual lines of flowing wood grain, and the plants that grow alongside it.
